The Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord is part of the European Route of Industrial Heritage and one of the most popular industrial monuments. It was ranked by The Guardian among the 10 best parks in the world.
The former coal and steel production plant was abandoned in 1985. In the years that followed, this large site was extensively redesigned into a public park with the aim of preserving most of its original appearance. In addition, the surrounding areas in particular have been integrated into nature.
During my visit in 2020 I was once again impressed by the stunning symbiosis of vegetation and remnants. Knowing the place for over 15 years I was now determined to dedicate a new series to it. In the time that followed I returned several times to re-experience this place with a fresh mind. I mainly focused on exploring the less popular and unimposing parts of the area. The result is a contemplative journey through this unique piece of industrial culture.
